As the Champions League continues tonight, the game between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and AS Roma is highly interesting. "Werkself" haven't impressed at all in the Bundesliga, but Roma have played very well in Serie A and are placed second after eight games played.
The third round in Group E in the Champions League features a grand and hopefully exciting clash at the BayArena in Leverkusen, Germany. The two teams have started in a decent manor in Europe, with Leverkusen beating Bate Borisov at home 4-1 and Rome started off by drawing at home against the ruling champions FC Barcelona. However, in the second round both Leverkusen and Roma lost their games. Leverkusen lost away to FC Barcelona, which was expected, but Roma lost away against Bate, a real shock for the Romans. As Barcelona are the dominant side in the group, the games between these two teams may decide which team reaches the Round of 16
Before this game a lot of focus has been on Hakan Calhanoglu and Miralem Pjanic. Arguably two of the best attacking midfielders in Europe go head to head in tonight's clash. Both players have got a special move as well; free kicks. Hakan Calhanoglu almost broke Marco Basler's record (seven free kicks in a single Bundesliga season), but Hakan managed to score six. An absolutely amazing achievement. Pjanic has scored ten free kicks in Roma in total, but Pjanic was actually coached by the free kick king of all time, Lyon's former maestro in midfield Juninho Pernambucano, when Pjanic played for the French side.
An interesting game will kick off at 8.45 PM (CET) and you should be watching. Two very quick and enjoyable teams to watch go head to head in a clash that might decide the fate of Group E and if you don't like beautiful football then well, the German fans are always a joy.
Enjoy the game! I know I will.
